Smrpg Legacy: Under Hiatus
Posted on 12.24.08 by Super Mallow

Smrpg Legacy is under a hiatus

It's that simple. For those who don't know what that means, it means that the site will not be updated anymore for an undetermined period of time. It could be 10 seconds, it could be 10 years. It's a temporary closing that may just last forever, though that is not the most likely solution

Angel died this morning. For those who know who she is well, you know what she meant to me. I almost feel like she has a connection with the site somehow, and for that reason alone, I no longer want to work on it. At the same time, I realize that this is an initial reaction to the situation, so I know I may be working on it later on. I'm basically just going on how I feel

I'll still be active online with emails and messengers and the forums and such, so I'm not giving everything up. Just the updates and content additions...those are no more for right now. I'll still take emails for anything and what not, but for right now, we're under a hiatus. Merry Christmas to everyone, or any other holiday you celebrate

Rawr! Blizzard

It's snowing outside. A lot. Like we could get 8 inches.

And I love it!

First and foremost, hopefully everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. It was kind of boring over here, nothing much happened. Had to write a paper, oh boy!

Anyways, nothing's been worked on. Exams are in two weeks. Busy times, busy times! I haven't been able to add anything, or I would've worked on something since we've been in a drought lately. Unfortunately, that drought will continue for a bit =/

Actual Gaming News
Posted on 11.18.08 by Super Mallow

It's hard to believe, but I actually tried to update earlier and wasn't able to, so don't fully blame me for the 13 day layoff =P

Anyways, there's no real site or Mario RPG related news specifically, but have you heard about PETA's new Cooking Mama parody game? I mean, yikes, what is the world coming to? So kids play a cooking game, big deal. It amazes me to the point where humanity is at with things like this...

On a personal view: PETA causes more problems with their actions than their solutions. Aka, see the Barbaro/Eight Belles incidents (Horse racing incidents).

So how did everyone like the election yesterday?

Yeah....that's completely not that point. Anyways, this is just another "well I'm unable to update" update blah blah blah I know. I don't like it either.

Things are just not in position for me to update. They aren't, and I don't think they will be for a long while. And I hate it, don't get me wrong - this isn't something I like doing. I haven't been responding to emails, though I do appreciate them. I might make an auto-reply for them since I've been getting a ton.

Things are just a disaster right now. That's how they are, and it looks like for a while, that's how they will remain.

Another Quick Update
Posted on 10.29.08 by Super Mallow

Hm...11 days this time, not much better now is it?

Just making it quick: Bad time, couldn't update, and won't be able to for a while. That's all for now. I hate it, but I just am unable to have it differently

(One good note for me though...NBA started yesterday, Pistons today!)

Quick Update
Posted on 10.18.08 by Super Mallow

I didn't update in 10 days

I'm just making it quick. I was working on someone more important. It's really as a simple as that - I needed to get it done as quickly as possible!

No new content or news, unfortunately. Now that I'm done with my writing, well, hopefully I can get something done!

Mario & Luigi 3 Board
Posted on 10.8.08 by Super Mallow

I have not been feeling much better and didn't play Super Mario RPG anymore. Just been a wreck lately. Actually, I haven't touched any game in like, a week =O

Anyways, quick update. The Message Board now has a separate forum for Mario & Luigi 3 discussion. So now there's some good chances to discuss the upcoming game!

Oh, Toronto Maple Leafs vs Detroit Red Wings. Tomorrow, 7:00 Pm Eastern. Joe Louis Arena. Banner Raising. YES!!!!

Mario & Luigi 3 Trailers
Posted on 10.6.08 by Super Mallow

I wanted to update on this earlier, but 2 things prevented me from doing so: 1) I went home for the weekend and was without internet for a good amount of time, and 2) I got really, really ill and still am. I'm just able to update now because I have to submit my photos online for school, or I wouldn't have done it anyways!

Although I'm sure everyone has already seen it, the first Mario & Luigi 3 trailer has been show. You can find it at GameTrailers who had it first (of what I know of!). Trailer looks interesting, like a return to form to the first Mario & Luigi. It also looks like some Super Mario RPG elements, such as a green Toad (Chancellor?) and Bowser, have been thrown in. Remember, the Mario & Luigi team consists of members who did Super Mario RPG (Which is the most likely reason why Square-Enix let Geno make a cameo in Superstar Saga). We'll have to see

Outside of that, I didn't take my Wii home, so I didn't finish Super Mario RPG VC yet. I've just been slacking with it. Got Sonic Chronicles and am playing that (despite only playing a little bit, I can already say it's better than nearly every other Sonic game since 1994!; Sonic 3 & Knuckles =P). If I feel better I'll start playing it and finish it up.

(I get really sick every time the weather changes because my lungs cannot handle it [long story there]. So it could last like, 2 more weeks or 1 more day, I don't know!)

First Mario & Luigi 3 Screens!
Posted on 10.2.08 by Super Mallow

We have the first Mario & Luigi 3 screens, and so far, they look gorgeous. It looks like the game is a return to form to the original which is so much far superior to Partners in Time (In my mind at least). The game looks like it's deeper and is much more complex judging on the HP amounts and all the battle options.

Click thumbnails for bigger pictures!

I'll add a page to the nav bar as soon as possible, and all new details will be reported here!

Mario & Luigi 3 Announced
Posted on 10.2.08 by Super Mallow

---BREAKING NEWS (Edited October 2, 2:10 AM EST)---

Mario & Luigi 3 has been CONFIRMED! There's even a video to prove it! So far it looks like Superstar Saga (thank you Nintendo!) more so that Partners in Time. Oh...and is that fighting with BOWSER I SEE?!

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/conference2008fall/mov/ds.html?n10 is the movie link. The game is currently slated for 2009

---Original Update Below---

Hooray update on October 2nd at 1:20 in the morning!

Nintendo had a nifty news conference today and it's on going as I'm typing this. The major news is that a new Nintendo Ds (which may have Virtual Console!) was announced. It's called the Dsi.

The news we're focused on? Apparently, according to many sources, Mario & Luigi 3 has been announced. Well, it hasn't. It is purely a rumor at 1:35 in the morning of October 2nd! Obviously, we'll keep you posted on everything that happens in regards to it! I'll most likely update the site later on with information

Correction: Super Mario RPG Sales; Super Long Rant!
Posted on 10.1.08 by Super Mallow

So I decided to look up that fact on Super Mario RPG because there's no way it could've been the top selling game at this point; it's too soon.

Anyways, what I heard was for the month, that Super Mario RPG was the top selling VC game for the month. Although this week it was the 3rd most downloaded game, it has the month covered as far as I know. I don't have the latest report on sales so that could be off, but it's in the top 5 for sure.

That doesn't include WiiWare games though 'cause Mega Man 9, which is an awesome game you also need to buy =P, is kind of walking away with it.

So...that's the correction. In other news, fighting Jinx is not the best idea when he does 682 damage to you. I was just messing around on a low level with no armor and he decided to do 682 on Mario with Bombs Away. Probably hurt right? I was supposed to beat Culex on level 10 since someone asked me to do it, and I decided to see how much damage someone could do since Bombs Away is a high damaging move. Only 486 on Geno though when he blocked it and failed partially =P

Almost done with the game (after doing some leveling up to speed up the process), hopefully some pages to come soon. I just have been super busy. If it's not my work (see last update), it's playing tennis (got in a good 3.5 hours today from 6:30-10:00 Pm) with my suitemates. If it's not that, well, it's probably back to either Final Fantasy, Mega Man 9, and some other games we're all playing. Or Spore, which I don't like but my suitemate is absolutely addicted to.

And if not that, well, I might be playing Kirby Super Star Ultra. Or reading (400 pages due tomorrow, yikes!). Or ranting like I am right now. Or failing to stop myself from ranting. Or going to bowling on Thursday nights. Or going every Saturday to a movie (this week was Wanted with Angelina Jolie) and then to Taco Bell (Mmmm crunchy tacos =P). Or it's a late night movie on my suitemate's computer (we generally run that from 2:30 Am to about 4:30 Am =P). Or it's constantly using =P. Or it's talking about the NHL season which is back in 3 days, 9 days in North America (they open up in Prague on the 4th, my mom's birthday which I am going home for).

-Paragraph break, tired yet?-

Or it's writing letters to Nintendo for my Public Relations class which they're not responding to. Or it's trying to find Sparty's Flag to win iPods all over campus with a group of 10 other people in which we all struggle to know our campus and can't figure out the crazy ridiculous clues. Or it's finding the secret garden on campus which we were amazed was there and is one of the most beautiful sights I've seen in a long time (ok, yeah, I know how that sounds). Or it's trying to get back at my suitemates who actually managed to pull off the old prank of using marker on my face when I'm asleep (which is a super *bricked*). Or it's using the word or a lot.

-Paragraph break 2, keeping up?-

Or it's following the miserable Detroit Lions going 0-3 so far. Or it's celebrating the fact they fired Matt Millen (their general manager). Or it's the baseball playoff season starting (which the Detroit Tigers, despite having the 2nd highest payroll in the MLB this season, failed to make). Or it's college football where we're 3-1 with a Heisman candidate (go green, go white!). Or it's getting into a bike crash because the rich girl (who amazingly doesn't have a car but like a 500$ bike) was on her cell phone while riding a bike. Or it's doing laundry, and I hate doing laundry! Or it's howling like a wolf outside when your suitemates tell you not to or they're going to walk away but you do it anyways. Or bark like a dog, one or the other. Or spraining you ankle, which I did today.

Or, who knows, it could just be something else.

I know, it's a long personal rant, but truth be told, I'm slowing going away from the site for a personal life. Don't get me wrong, that's not the problem; I've just been extremely busy. Everything I just listed plus some more stuff (we'll keep this positive, not getting into the negatives) literally has been happening or has happened or we're currently doing. I just haven't had an hour or two to just play Super Mario RPG, let alone document changes, make graphics for the page, write the page, put it up, and get a new update. I have a commitment to the site and I understand and not only accept but embrace it, and I'll get it done. I just don't know when.

I love the site and everything, but there now exists other things that are priority, and the site takes a back seat to it in my life. While I don't consider myself an adult (despite being 19; I'm like a really big kid and always will be!), I have started to spread out from it. And I'm sure a lot of you longtime visitors expected that, but some people who know me wouldn't think that since they have no basis to do so. It's all good and the site's doing excellent right now, but I just want to let people know (and by that I mean the people who's eyes are bloodshot from reading this incredibly long update which I've thoroughly enjoyed typing) that I'm doing what I can, it's just not always fast as people want.

So, with that said, I'm ending this rant!

Super Mario RPG: Top Selling Virtual Console Game?
Posted on 9.29.08 by Super Mallow

I heard this the other day on some sort of video I watched of Super Mario RPG's release on he VC.

Apparently, Super Mario RPG is now the top selling Virtual Console game. I can't confirm that, but at the same time, it wouldn't surprise me. I'll try to get some confirmation on it, because it is a pretty big accomplishment if it's true!

In the mean time, my bad week is over. 3 tests, 2 photo projects, 2 papers, etc. That's why this update didn't come sooner. I've started playing Smrpg Vc again so I'm almost finished. Final Fantasy no longer rules my life (see last update!), it's now Mega Man 9!

So, in short, I should finish Super Mario RPG soon and get some new stuff up. Provided my photography teacher doesn't give me 5 projects at a time again because he has no clue how to teach and everyone dislikes him greatly (Ok, personal rant right there!).

10 days left to Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Detroit Red Wings! (Start of the NHL season for my Wings =P)

Final Fantasy Rules My Life
Posted on 9.21.08 by Super Mallow

Yep, not a whole lot on this update. In short:

Final Fantasy totally has me right now

Ok, so I finished X and am playing through X-2 again. Despite beating both before, I've just been wanting to play 'em again. I haven't played games this thoroughly for years now, so it's nice to do

In the meantime, well, no news. Unless you count the fact that Mega Man 9 comes out tomorrow on the Wii's Virtual Console...which is awesome and amazing...and exciting...

Hacking Fixed; Back on Google!
Posted on 9.14.08 by Super Mallow

This update was not meant to come 12 days after the last.

While we were "hacked," Globat (my host) made me do a random password change. Well, that's fine and all, but since I'm a Frontpage guy, it took 4 days for it to process the password change and therefore, no update.

So, in the meantime, lots of good stuff. The "hacking" is over and it's been fixed. The exploit was a simple cover up and it's been taken care of. Special thanks to Masamune from GamerHiker for the help!

Because the exploit has been repaired, we're back on Google! And our numbers have jumped up again since. We're now number 1 when searching "Smrpg" once more and we're already back on the front page of Google when "Super Mario RPG" is searched. I didn't expect us to get up there that fast, but we'll still need a lot to take back the number one spot. We'll have to give it time

As far as new content, I've been documenting the changes from the VC Super Mario RPG. I've noticed 10 so far. I keep getting emails on the fact that Static E! was changed like Flame Wall - trust me, I know this as well as others, I just haven't been able to report all of them. I will be making a page soon when I complete the game for the first time on the VC version

(Ok, I still haven't beaten it. I decided to redo Final Fantasy X in the meantime and I stopped playing at Land's End. *Is guilty*)

The Message Board is a few posts away from 70,000 and we might cross that later today. Our 2000th member just registered as well (minus all the deleted accounts).

There is one negative thing though: I have not been responding to emails like I should. I apologize for it, I just haven't had the motivation to do so. I'll need to do that as well as add all the Fan Works that have been submitted.

Smrpg Legacy Hacked / VC Changes
Posted on 9.2.08 by Super Mallow

With the release of Super Mario RPG on the Virtual Console, yesterday was a great day.

Today, it's not

Smrpg Legacy has been hacked...kind of. Someone placed a file containing a bunch of sex words. This is what a spammer or something would do in order to gain traffic to his or her site because those words are often searched.

Well, the result is simple: Google emailed me, and they are taking me off Google. Obviously, with the timing, this is bad, bad news for us. However, it's good because they let me know, and they'll reindex the site when I remove it. One quick look at the logs and I should be good. It'll take a bit to rebuild, but we've been unindexed for a bit now actually.

Now, for the news. Remember how Nintendo said Virtual Console titles would be unaltered? Well, they lied...sort of. I've already noticed a major change in Super Mario RPG, and I'll be documenting these in a new section. The first one? Flame Wall, a move used by enemies (but mainly bosses) now appears totally different. It is transparent red and gives a black look, whereas in the Super Nintendo version, it is significantly more solid and has yellow and orange in it.

I'm sure there's more, and I'll keep a look out for it!

Super Mario RPG: Now Available Worldwide!!
Posted on 9.1.08 by Super Mallow

I freaked, FREAKED when I saw this. I would've updated at 3:00 today, but oh, yeah, that's right, figures I start to have Migraines last night and wasn't able to.

But, yeah, I'm feeling better now!

After 5 years of petitioning, sending letters, thousands of emails...after a year of waiting with the promise of a release...after Japan and Europe, Super Mario RPG was finally released on the North American Virtual Console.

This....is amazing. Biggest news to happen ever =P

I mean, think about it. This is it, this is what we've (I know at least I have!) worked 5 years for.

It's 800 points (They didn't even make it 900!!!), or 8$. Best 8$ you'll ever spend. Download it, now. Don't wait. It's only 60 blocks! It's also the 250th game on the Virtual Console to be released!

Now everyone everywhere can experience Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

9 Days
Posted on 8.31.08 by Super Mallow

Well, it's been busy. First week of college. I don't know why and can't explain it, but it seems like when everyone else has their first classes, they just get an intro and then no work. I, on the other hand, get completely slammed. This week: 3 papers, read a novel, read 2 chapters out of a textbook, 2 online readings, and I have to take over 250 photos of people's eyes.

I can't explain that in the first week!

Outside of that, news has been dead since Super Mario RPG came out in PAL regions. I need to add some information on that to the Super Mario RPG page. I don't have a PAL Wii but with the help of a few people, there are some changes to the game, mainly with wording and such. Although it also appears that some of the games mechanics are slightly altered as well, but I can't confirm that at the moment.

In the meantime, September's around the corning. It means nothing that I'm saying it here, I just am =P

(Yep, I said that as news!)

Super Mario RPG: In Europe and Australia's Near You!
Posted on 8.22.08 by Super Mallow

So I get to college and I found out about this...oh yeah, through a friend because I didn't have Internet! That's why I couldn't get this news out earlier

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars will be released on Europe's and Australia's Virtual Consoles tomorrow. The only region left is North America

Lucky =P. But yeah, now millions who never had the chance to play it will get to experience it. This is actually big news for the Smrpg community, finally it gets released in PAL regions!

College
Posted on 8.20.08 by Super Mallow

Well, I got my laptop back! I got a totally new screen, everything looks nice on it now.

In the meantime (and I'm making this a short, straight to the point update), college starts in 2 days. Actually, that's when I arrive in the dorms. So, I won't have time to do anything anywhere, so nothing new will be happening, unfortunately

Updating
Posted on 8.11.08 by Super Mallow

I apparently did not update in 10 days, not what I wanted.

Anyways, not much this week. I've started preparations to go back to college. It's a bit early to start, but last year...last year was a disaster, so I'm getting them out of the way.

Chances are I won't be updating for a bit again, but that's because it looks like I need my laptop repaired. We'll have to see, I may not need it!

Message Board / Fan Works
Posted on 7.31.08 by Super Mallow

No news or content this time, unfortunately. I've made the temporary decision not to add the page I was considering in the last update. The reason for it is simple: If it wasn't relevant then, then there's no need to purposely make it relevant now.

In the meantime, and I really hate asking for this, we're looking for some new members to join the Message Board. Since it was reopened a few months ago, activity is there, but it's just not a whole lot. Obviously, shutting down for over a year kills the chance of old members coming back, so we're looking for a new set to come in.

Again, I hate asking it...I haven't asked since we were just a really small site. But I just think it can do better, so I kind of want to focus on it. We've just gotten a new skin and banner and all that stuff, so it's a completely new start. We just need to get that start kick-started!

In the meantime, there's been a good amount of fan submissions. Like I've said before, I have other things to take care of. However, I plan to have a large update in the near future with all the additions. I think I have 10 or so waiting in my inbox, so if you have anything to contribute, it would help us out.

Lot of text, little content. I know, I don't like it either.

Updating!
Posted on 7.25.08 by Super Mallow

Week since the last update...not bad, but not really good!

Anyways, we don't have any new content for this update. I owe a lot of people Fan Works, but I just haven't put them up yet. I'll try and get those soon, but I just have to take care of some other things at the moment. Afterwards, I should be able to get them up.

Outside of that, well, I'm in limbo over something for the site. Due to recent...events in my life, I'm compelled to add a page. However, the content of the page may be too...dark for the site. It is, however, a part of our history that I kept quiet at the time, but it's been kind of relevant to me lately. The page's content, if it were not part of our history, would be much too graphic for the site, which is why I'm in limbo.

I'll have to think about it. Until then, there's not much to update about.

So About E3...
Posted on 7.18.08 by Super Mallow

As expected, the thing I heard about the Super Mario RPG Sequel being at E3 was indeed false. It's really no surprise either. We'll jut have to keep hope alive longer it looks like!

Outside of that, E3 was actually terrible. No good news except that Final Fantasy 13 will also be on the Xbox 360, but that's not something we're going to cover here!

Super Mario RPG Sequel at E3?
Posted on 7.13.08 by Super Mallow

Well, I wanted to let the last update go a bit longer since it's so important, but there's something that needs to be said.

Before I get to what it is though, I need to say one thing: The following is nothing more than a rumor that has come to our attention. There exists no confirmation of it, and we in no way are saying that this is true. Please do not try and misconstrue it. With that in mind, let's get to what it is.

I received an email a few hours ago that, in short, said that a Super Mario RPG Sequel will be unveiled at this years E3. E3, as most of you know, is going on the next few days starting on Monday, July 14th.

Now, hear me out about this. The person who sent the email claims to be an inside source and has requested (obviously) to remain anonymous in telling us. If this person's claim is legit, then chances are this is true. However, I'll be honest: I do not think that this email is really all that legit. After trying to contact some other people, I've not been able to make a connection. But, at the same time, if this is a leak, then I wouldn't really be able to make any connection.

In short: Don't get your hopes up just quite yet. I'm not saying that a sequel wouldn't be announced at E3, but let's face reality: if it was an insider leaking news, chances are it would go to some big site like IGN or Gamespot, not a fansite like us. Is there a chance a sequel could be announced? Yes, but it's very unlikely, unfortunately.

If it's not true, well, that's why we're saying it's just a rumor. If it is, we're glad to bring it up first. I just wouldn't count on it at this point; we'll have to wait and see!

(Obviously, I hope and pray for this to be true. It would be fantastic news!)

Super Mario RPG Legacy Turns 5!!!!
Posted on 7.9.08 by Super Mallow

Look at what we have here. 5 years, that's how long it's been since Super Mario RPG Legacy was first launched. Truly amazing

I did something a bit different this time for it instead of just recycling an old layout and posting the year in review. I think it's much more emphasizing on the importance of today, so hopefully it works out.

Today is...well, just great. I just wish people closer to the site would've remembered it, but I suppose I can't ask for everything! Enjoy the celebration!!!

Oh, and one last thing. Remember those soundtracks? Let's just say I threw in a present for you guys for supporting us through the years! Music finally makes it's long awaited return!

Chrono Trigger DS!!!!
Posted on 7.4.08 by Super Mallow

Oh man did I freak out when I first found this out:

Square-Enix is remaking Chrono Trigger for the DS!!! Ok, it's not Mario RPG related directly, but this is huge, huge news. It opens up all kinds of possibilities for Super Mario RPG and such.

Well, that, and the fact I love Chrono Trigger. So it's big news to me. Nintendo seems to be finally listening to it's fans: Earthbound announced for VC, Smrpg announced for VC (Well, only in Japan and PAL regions), Kirby Superstar DS, Megaman 9 for WiiWare in a completely old-styled Megaman game, and now Chrono Trigger. Actually, I can't think of 4 games that were wanted more in terms of remakes, so it seems like they are finally getting it right. Megaman 9 is just the icing.

I didn't have power for the last 2 days, so I couldn't post this earlier, or trust me, I would have

Seriously, I really did freak out / still am freaking out. I know it's not Mario RPG related, but still, I had to post it. Let's just hope they don't force touch controls and don't mess it up, but Square-Enix seems to be the best out of any company when producing remakes.

So...there's my rant. In site related news, remember, come back in 5 days on July 9th. I have something big planned!

A Super Update
Posted on 7.2.08 by Super Mallow

We have a super update today. By that I mean a ton of new things were added! And for the first time in a long time, a Super Mario RPG page was added

But we'll get to what's been added in a moment. First, there's some big news. Check the site in 7 days, July 9th. There's a massive update planned, and I have a bit of a surprise for everyone.

It's something that's pretty cool, so check back then!

In the mean time, here's what's been added!

» Added: 2 Fan Arts
» Added: 1 Fan Comic
» Added: 3 Links
» Added: Super Mario RPG Special Items

Super Mario RPG Released on Japan's Virtual Console
Posted on 6.24.08 by Super Mallow

Amazing to think that after 5 years of petitioning, sending letters, sending emails, etc., we can finally say this:

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars was released on Japan's Virtual Console today.

It's back after 12 years. Incredible. Now we just need a PAL and US release.

June 24: Super Mario RPG!
Posted on 6.20.08 by Super Mallow

I can't believe this update is coming. Smrpg is finally officially getting remade!

Nintendo has announced Super Mario RPG will come out for the Virtual Console on June 24th in Japan. It was announced on their Japanese site: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/vc_smr/index.html

Wow...it's strange that it'll actually be out for remake. I'm...shocked.

Super Mario RPG Coming to Europe and Australia!
Posted on 6.13.08 by Super Mallow

I couldn't get to this earlier, so I apologize. Well, I tried to, but my host is doing some work with log-ins and stuff and I don't really know what's going on with it.

Anyways, Super Mario RPG has been rated as a Virtual Console title for PAL regions, also known as Europe and Australia. This leaves North America as the only region where it hasn't been confirmed as a Virtual Console release!

Good news for those in those areas since they never got to play the game in those regions. We'll keep you posted on a US VC release

Emails!
Posted on 6.10.08 by Super Mallow

Those in Pittsburgh didn't seem to like the last update so much =P

Anyways, just a quick update here. I've responded to all my old emails over the last 20 days since my email wasn't working before. The problem is, very few went through!

I don't know what's wrong with it, but I called Comcast today and they've said give it the night. So hopefully, it'll be tonight. I'll re-respond to them and hope it works!

Other than that, we're just watching out for Super Mario RPG to hit Japan's Virtual Console

Detroit Red Wings: Stanley Cup Champions!!
Posted on 6.4.08 by Super Mallow

Ok, so this update has nothing to do with any Mario RPG, nor anything does it deal with gaming in general.

Those who know me know 1 thing: I live and and die for hockey, so I can't pass this opportunity up.

The Detroit Red Wings, which are my hometown team, are the 2007-2008 Stanley Cup Champions! They defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4 games to 2 with a 3-2 win tonight.

*Is incredible excited and has flipped out a ton in the last 3 hours*

Super Mario RPG Announced For Virtual Console!
Posted on 5.30.08 by Super Mallow

It looks like we're going to go through this again!

According to numerous places, mainly Virtual Console specific sites, Super Mario RPG will be coming to the Virtual Console in June. However, this is only for Japan at this point. It will cost 900 Wii Points, 100 more (or 1$) than other Super Nintendo titles.

So we'll keep our eye out for it! This is great news. It comes to no surprise. Earthbound was rated after Nintendo Power's VC poll (check previous updates for info), and now it appears Super Mario RPG is heading there as well.

I'll be contacting Nintendo for this shortly, and we'll see if we can get confirmation!

Edit, 9:30 Pm Eastern Time: Nintendo of America has just confirmed to Smrpg Legacy (Hooray, one of our very few exclusive news stories) that Super Mario RPG has not been announced for a North American release. It is ONLY for Japan at this point

Super Mario RPG Is Now Number 3
Posted on 5.28.08 by Super Mallow

Nintendo Power kept up their poll for which titles everyone would like to see. Unfortunately, Super Mario RPG fell one spot in both the reader's choice and the staff's choice.

The reader's list:

1. Earthbound
2. Mother
3. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
4. Chrono Trigger
5. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

The Nintendo Power staff's list:

1. Mega Man: The Wily Wars
2. Terranigma
3. Super Mario All-Stars
4. Super Punch-Out!!
5. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

It's still quite impressive that Super Mario RPG is the only title to appear in both lists, but it would've also been good for it to be higher like it was last issue

Another New Section
Posted on 5.25.08 by Super Mallow

We've added another new Paper Mario section to the site. It's Paper Mario Peach Items!

...Ok, so it's not that important or big of a section. I had it done when I did the Paper Mario Key Items page and never added it. Now it's up for viewing!

Outside of that, not much. My inbox is flooded with emails from the last 2 weeks. I have not been able to send replies because Comcast...well, is Comcast and didn't really feel like working for a bit. It's nearly fixed, so I'll be answering all of those shortly.

I also contacted Intelligent Systems about Paper Mario DS, and like Nintendo, they're not saying anything. We'll just have to wait and see on it

About That Paper Mario Ds Game...
Posted on 5.18.08 by Super Mallow

Remember all those reports about a Paper Mario remake on the Ds? Well, I wouldn't say the thought of it is dead, but it's just not all that much alive.

After weeks of asking and then waiting, I shot off 2-3 emails to Nintendo this week. Paper Mario Ds is STILL a rumor. Nintendo has not and is not confirming that the game is actually slated for release.

I just wanted to update everyone on the status of it. Outside of it, no new news!

Updating!
Posted on 5.13.08 by Super Mallow

Ok, so this little update drought killed a lot of momentum we had. I did not update because college finished up and all that jazz. There was also a problem at my other site, and it was not fun and I just focused on getting it solved as soon as possible.

I did contact Nintendo a few more times during the last 9 days. Still no confirmation on Paper Mario Ds. Other than that, it's been 12 years of Super Mario RPG today!

Earthbound For Wii! / New Sections!
Posted on 5.04.08 by Super Mallow

This news isn't directly related to Super Mario RPG, but it's great for us nonetheless. Earthbound, also known as Mother 2, has been rated by the ESRB for the Wii's Virtual Console!

Of course, this is big news. Our Earthbound buddies have been going through what us Super Mario RPG fans have been experiencing with a remake or sequel. They've been petioning and sending letters for actually for 1 more year than us, so it's great to see them get their game. Now we just need to get ours, but this is a crucial step in getting it. This could be really the first time I've ever heard of Nintendo or any other gaming company really listening to the fans.

And remember, this is right after the Nintendo Power results. I really don't think this is "just coincidence" - perhaps the poll was a way of testing both our fan bases? At this point, it doesn't matter which way its sliced. Maybe sometime soon we'll hear some Smrpg related news

So, that's some good news. We've also got some goodies here on the site. 4 new sections in fact!

Super Mario RPG Comes In 2nd!
Posted on 4.30.08 by Super Mallow

As if we didn't need any more numbers showing how popular Super Mario RPG really is, well, Nintendo sure knows now. Remember how Nintendo Power was asking people to vote for games to appear on the Wii's Virtual Console? Well, there's no doubt anymore.

Super Mario RPG came in second place to Earthbound. Yes, we'd all like Smrpg to be number 1, but if there is going to be a game ahead of it, Earthbound does deserve. And guess what. We beat Chrono Trigger. Yes, that's right: Chrono Trigger.

And as a Chrono Trigger fan as well as a Super Mario RPG fan: If that's not something, then nothing is.

The full list:

1. Earthbound
2. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Mother
5: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Actually, I'd like to personally thank you guys for voting it that high!

Paper Mario Items!
Posted on 4.27.08 by Super Mallow

How about this: 3 new content sections. A year ago, this would've never happened - But like I said, that time is over.

The main highlight of the 3 new sections is Paper Mario Items! It took me forever to get "sprites" of the items, but I finally managed to get them all. The list does not include Key Items or items during the Peach scenes, but those sections should be coming soon.

The other 2 sections added aren't as glamorous, but they're still nice to have: Super Paper Mario Game Information and Super Mario RPG Credits

The Reawakening
Posted on 4.23.08 by Super Mallow

Well, look at what we have here. This looks awfully familiar, does it not? In fact, I could've sworn I've seen this before...

Because I have. Welcome to Version 8: The Reawakening! In fact, this layout is a remake of our Version 2 layout! I think it's a pretty accurate restoration of it, though it did have to be changed a bit since Smrpg Legacy has also changed in that time period

So, for those who are long time visitors, you already know a lot of about this layout. For those who don't, there's some new stuff! Affiliates, like on V2, get their buttons shown at the bottom of each page while getting their links on the nav bar. Also, there's a music player on the bottom left of the nav bar! V2 had it playing automatically, but that got highly annoying at certain points, so the decision is up to you!

The font is the Trebuchet MS, just like on the homepage of V2. The URLs of each page are now significantly longer so that search engines pick them up better - I cannot change the page title of each page because the system used overwrites it.

The Culex background is slightly a bit lighter. And, rumor has it, if you look closely in the content area, you'll see a diminished image of the Super Mario RPG World Map, just like in Version 2...

But the layout is not the major news. Well, it is, kind of, but I don't consider it to be. The actual part is that I actually plan to start working on the site again. Let's be honest: From the end of Version 6 all the way through Version 7, I ran this site into the ground. The site deserves better that what I gave it.

I actually have about 8 new Super Mario RPG sections I could make, and I plan on doing some Super Paper Mario stuff. I will be taking a slight break after re-doing the site because school is over in 2 weeks and I have finals, but afterwards, I am really hoping to get some work done. The Affiliation page has been redone, and I plan on going through the Links and Affiliates page and doing them in a manner similar to that of V2

V2 was always a bit special to me. It was the first "layout" I actually made (minus the banner), so it was quite important. Re-doing it has gotten me excited to cover the Mario RPGs again. Actually, I was originally planning to remake Version 3, because that was our most popular, but V2's calling was just too great to ignore!

So, grab a hot slice and take a big bite (now, how the heck did I get a line from a WarioWare song  in this update?) and enjoy the new-but-not-so-new look of Super Mario RPG Legacy. It's time to Reawaken to what we once were. Welcome to Version 8 of Super Mario RPG Legacy
