Subject: A fan’s devotion shattered

I would like to talk to you about Super Mario RPG; it is my favorite game of all time. Now Nintendo is a company know for pleasing the fans, as you may well know there is a petition going on to get Super Mario RPG on the GBA. Now the DS is out, and I’m sure that many fans would like it on that system now, with the familiar buttons. Now, I know you don’t want to port it because Squaresoft helped you a lot with this game, but you know what, I’m sick of it. Your company can’t seem to share success and admit someone made a better Mario RPG then you ever could. Now it’s simple, if I don’t see online, or in some gaming magazine soon that Super Mario RPG will be a DS game, then I will boycott your company. I’m sure other fans of the game are getting just as mad as me, so you may be seeing more boycotts then just me, please port the game. I am a long time Nintendo fan, and It hurts me to do this, but If I must, then I must. Your company once ruled the gaming empire by listening to fans, and now look at you, second to a company like Sony, win back your pride by listening to your fans. Please, it hurt me to see you fall from your success, and I’m just trying to give you some advice. For instance, fans want an online Super Smash Bros. Game, so give it to them. Fans want SMRPG on the DS, so give it to them. Nintendo, you’re a company I respect, but I fear you have changed your ways, please don’t let fans like me down. Thank you for reading. Please reply as I am interested in your thoughts on the matter.

Hi David,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We understand your devotion to Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. However, just as you would love to play a release of this title on the Nintendo DS, we are receiving similar requests from devoted fans of other classic titles. Unfortunately, we have neither the time nor the resources to create all the titles that are requested. It takes a significant investment in time and money to re-create a game for a new system. In addition, the cost of marketing a new title. And, stores are reluctant to devote prime shelf space to a previously release product.

Could we ever see a re-release of Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars? Who knows? I have forwarded your comments to the appropriate department here at Nintendo of America. Please keep checking our website for announcements on all new game titles.
