Super Mario RPG Legacy started as a school project. I had to "Job Shadow" someone and learn about a certain profession. I ended up learning about websites, and for my project, made a sample site all about Super Mario RPG

At the time of this project, there was only 1 major Mario RPG site out there - Secrets of the Seven Stars (Sotss). I had an unfinished site and decided to put it up for everyone. The site was launched on July 9, 2003. It wasn't a very good website, but I thought it was excellent since it was the first major thing I did on computers

The site's main page went through 3 different looks within the first week, and Version 1 was all set up afterward. A message board was added by former staff member SUPERgeno, and AxemRed was added to the site staff. Soon after, some things happened and both SUPERgeno and AxemRed left the site. Along with that, they decided to change the board to "Gaming Central Xtreme" - I soon took it off as the official board.

Since the site was new, losing the board wasn't a huge loss or concern. I ended up making my own board through EzBoard. It didn't work out so I changed it into a ProBoard. That didn't work either, so I just decided to take them both down. The site was without a message board for a while, but it worked out in the end.

After a little while, Version 2 rolled around with an InvisionFree board. Version 2 offered many things including 2 full navigation bars, SMRPG related themes, and no music on every page. It was a big improvement from Version 1. During Version 2, we reached 1,000,000 page views and started to average over 500 people a day. Version 2 also saw the release of Mario & Luigi, and we were one of the earliest sites to get info on it

After a long wait, Version 3 was released to replace Version 2. This version got much more attention than Version 2 and was generally considered to be better. Soon into it, we crossed the 1000 people per day mark and increased our affiliates and links. Version 3 also saw the release of a new game in the form of Paper Mario: TTYD. Soon after, the look became old news for me, and I decided to change it

Version 4 was released on July 18, 2005 with a new look. The 2 navigation bars were dropped in favor of 1. The site also was coded differently. It made things much easier and faster. Version 4, like Version 2 and Version 3, saw the release of a new game in the form of Mario & Luigi: DS. Unfortunately, we were hacked during this version, and it never got the attention it should. However, we did reach 2,000,000 page views.

Version 5 came out shortly after Version 4. Many considered this the best version yet with it's combination of blue colors. It kept the 1 navigation bar layout but added horizontal links as well. During Version 5, the MP3's made their return and we reached 3,000,000 views. The forums also passed 50,000 posts and 1,000 members. We also started averaging around 1500 people a day.

May 13, 2006. The 10 year anniversary of Super Mario RPG. Smrpg Legacy celebrates with the release of Version 6, by far the best yet. We also had the biggest amount of change with its release - every page was completely redone. 25 new sections were added in 1 day
